1 When was Pakistan Mint established and what is its status?

It was established/shifted to Lahore in 1943 from Calcutta during World War-II. After partition, this Mint which was earlier named as His Majesty’s Mint, was renamed as Pakistan Mint. It is under administrative control of Finance Division.
2 Who is the authority to decide design and denomination of currency coins or commemorative coins? 

As per Pakistan Coinage Act, 1906 (As amended), Federal Government decides the design and denomination of currency coins or commemorative coins
3 What are functions of Pakistan Mint? 

Pakistan Mint is engaged in the following types of work:-

            i.        Manufacturing of Coins .

                     a.       Indigenous Coins Production against indent of State Bank of Pakistan:-

           ii.        Non-Coinage Products

                      a.     Production of Civil & Military Awards, Medals of all kinds.

                      b.     Production of Postal Stamps and Seals, Year Punches and Embossing Machines.

                     c.      Shields, Tokens, Lapel Pins, Badges, Title Shoulders, Key Chain, and other items of decorations & Souvenirs

           iii).         Other Services.

                        Melting, Refining and conversion into standard bars of gold and silver confiscated by different agencies.

Currently Re. 1, Rs 2, 5 & 10 coins are in circulation.
